About Us

Student Experiences

Templeton is an International Baccalaureate school. The goal of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. In working toward this goal, the teachers have created a balanced Program of Inquiry with vertical and horizontal alignment across the grade levels. Curricular units are taught at every grade level (kindergarten through 6th grade) throughout the year with inquiry driving the instruction. In keeping with the international mindedness of IB, students are introduced to and explore Spanish throughout the year. Templeton strives to be a balanced, inquiry-based, and internationally grounded school. We also have an outstanding music program at Templeton. This is demonstrated in our wonderful grade-level programs produced annually along with our school choir that performs at numerous events throughout our community.

Community Partnership

We are extremely fortunate to have numerous partnerships in our community. We have a strong, collaborative relationship with Indiana University that provides support to our students in many ways. This includes The Maurer School of Law, Science/Math Practicums, School of Optometry, School of Nursing, Biology Outreach, Special Education Pre-service Experiences, volunteer tutors, College Mentors for Kids, and IU Greek Mentors. Our students also benefit from ongoing relationships with Boys and Girls Club, Girls Inc., Sycamore Land Trust, Ginger (Therapy Dog), Choir Outreach Performances, Book Quest, Pacers Read Like a Pro, Hoosier Hills Food Bank, Cutters Soccer Club, ACE and Civic Scholars, Milestones and Centerstone, Sassafras Audubon Society (Great Backyard Bird Count/Feederwatch), Lion’s Club (vision screening), Catholic Charities, School Smiles Mobile Dentist, YMCA, and annual, onsite field trips with local businesses and safety agencies.
